What to expect

Pickup at Radisson Blu Hotel
Meet at 9:45 am in front of Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø. Look for the guide in a blue Luhkka.
Scenic transfer to Breivikeidet
A 50-minute drive through Arctic landscapes with the Lyngen Alps on the horizon.
Reindeer sled ride
Glide through the snowy valley on a traditional Sami sled — about 20 minutes, snow conditions permitting.
Meet and feed the herd
Step into the enclosure to feed and photograph the reindeer up close.
Bidos and Sami storytelling
Warm up with traditional Bidos in the lavvu while our Sami guides share their culture and traditions.
Return to Tromsø
Back in front of Radisson Blu Hotel by approx. 2:30 pm.

Description

Less than an hour from Tromsø city centre, our camp at Breivikeidet will take your breath away. In a valley surrounded by snowy mountain peaks, with the Lyngen Alps as a backdrop, our authentic Sami guides take you on a traditional 20-minute sled ride before you meet, feed and photograph the reindeer herd.

Afterwards you warm up with a traditional taste of Bidos — a hearty reindeer stew (vegan and gluten-free option available) — while our guides share centuries of Sami culture, stories and traditions. Come curious: they can't wait to hear your questions!

Good to know

Pickup: 9:45 am in front of Radisson Blu Hotel, Tromsø. The bus departs at 10:00 am.
Return: back at Radisson Blu Hotel by approx. 2:30 pm.
Look for the guide wearing a blue Luhkka (traditional Sami poncho).
Duration: approx. 4.5 hours. Activity level: easy — great for families.
The sled ride depends on snow conditions and its duration may be adjusted. If it cannot run at all, we offer a partial refund — the rest of the tour runs as normal.
Maximum weight per person on the sled: 120 kg.
